i think it's by design while using the Technotronic skin
if you prefer, you can select another skin on the bottom left of the main page

I would like to see a thank you button!!!
You go in to a post and there are 8 pages of nothing but thank you and wow etc...
when all your doing is looking for a mirror or have a problem with the game and want to see if anyone else has
that same problem....
You could have it as this download has been thanked XXXX amount of time and IF the poster wants to know who thanked them they can get a list

I think a lot of people found this awesome place because of the great games here. So it would be great if we could have a game discussion forum. You know to talk about the games were playing, get help if were stuck or just get peoples opinions on games.

I noticed that someone in the shoutbox asked a question about 10 minutes ago. I wanted to help so I replied. But being 10 minutes ago, was the person still there? Should I wait, staring at the box in anticipation of a reply? If so, how long should I wait? I want to go on to other things, but I also don't want to leave this person hanging should they return with a reply to my reply.

My suggestion is to give the user the ability to turn on or off a sound that alerts them whenever a new post is made to the shout box. Nothing offensive or loud, just a simple "ding" or something similar, or better yet - a user defined sound that we choose by browsing our own system. This way, we can do other things and be notified of a reply and not have to sit there staring at the box or have to keep returning to the page to see if there is a new post.

EDIT: For got to add that, if implemented, the sound option should be just a simple On/Off toggle probably placed somewhere within the shoutbox so that it's easily accessible.
